How to Get Greater Attention and Reach for Your Blog

Spurred on by free, broadly functional software such as WordPress, 2 million blog posts hit the Internet every single day, enough to fill Time magazine for 770 years. Here are a few steps you can take to get noticed:

1. Know Your Direction

Determine how you want to focus your blog; consider its purpose. To begin, think about whom you’re targeting, and what you want to achieve with them. Your client avatar (also called ideal client or buyer persona) will have a huge influence on your content and style. Your end goal will be reflected in your CTA (Call to Action) for each piece of content.

2. Get Social

Make sure your site includes social sharing buttons to all the social media sites so that people can immediately post your content with one click to their favorite sites. If you don't make it easy they're not going to do it!

3. Seek out a readership

You can filter your readers by looking through the blog categories at Alltop.com. Another way is through Facebook, with the search phrase “pages liked by people who like [your brand].” People who have liked that other page might also enjoy your content. Now that you've identified these potential readers, you can target them with advertising.

4. Join the broader conversation

“Guest posting… positions you, your business, and your content as an authoritative resource,” explains Greg Digneo for the Content Marketing Institute. “This built-in social proof will… make sales much easier.”
